sankhya

Sri Jiva inquired from Sri Nityananda Prabhu, in order to remove his doubts,

“The knowledge of sankhya and logic is very inauspicious. How then did these sciences remain here in the eternal dhama?”

Hearing his question, Nityananda embraced Jiva very affectionately and said,

“Hari bol! Hari bol! In the holy abode of the Lord there is nothing inauspicious. Logic and sankhya are not so powerful or prominent here independently. They stay here as the servants of bhakti and trap some wicked people who are suffering the results of their bad karma. Bhakti is maha-devi here and all others are her servants. Everyone here assists in manifesting bhakti. In Navadvipa, nine kinds of devotional service exist. Here karma and jnana serve bhakti. Sastra serves to further contaminate the intelligence of those who are adverse to Krishna. But to gentlemen the same sastra gives attachment to Sri Krishna. Praudha Maya is the predominating deity here. Every yuga she remains engaged as the servant of Gauranga in this holy abode. If someone becomes averse to the Vaishnavas due to bad karma, maya makes him blind and gives him much suffering. All sins and all karma are destroyed here by Praudha Maya in her transcendental form. But if someone is offensive to Vaishnavas, Praudha Maya removes him from here. Those wicked people, even though they may possess vast knowledge, still do not attain love at the lotus feet of Sri Krishna. They receive avidya and therefore do not see Sri Gauranga and the opulence of Nadia. Therefore vidya is not inauspicious, only the avidya (the shadow portion of vidya) is inauspicious. Dear Jiva, all these truths will become apparent to you by the mercy of Sri Gauranga and by the will of the Lord you will mention all this in the many scriptures that will manifest through you.”

Sri Nityananda Prabhu explained to Sri Jiva, “This Kali-yuga in which Lord Gauranga has appeared, is blessed and is the cream of all yugas. Lord Gaurasundara manifests His vidya pastimes in this yuga. Therefore Brihaspati descended here along with his associates. Brihaspati took birth as Vasudeva Sarvabhauma to please Lord Gauranga. Knowing His Lord would enjoy the vidya-rasa, Brihaspati along with his associates left Indrasabha (Indra’s court) and appeared at different places for the Lord’s pleasure. Sarvabhauma Mahasaya opened tolas (schools) in Vidyanagara and spread knowledge. He thought, ‘In the future, due to the influence of dry knowledge, I may lose Sri Gauranga.’ Thinking like this he left behind his disciples and went to another area, leaving Nadia before the appearance of the Lord. He thought to himself, ‘If I am a real servant of Gauranga then the Lord, being merciful upon me, will bring me to Him.’ Thinking like this Sarvabhauma went to Nilacala-dhama and established mayavada-sastra there very strongly. Here in Vidyanagara, Gauracandra Mahaprabhu enjoyed vidya-vilasa by defeating the disciples of Sarvabhauma in a very simple way, just by joking with them (parihasa). Whenever Lord Gaura Raya came to Vidyanagara He would defeat all the scholars through nyaya-phanki (debate). All the teachers and students would run away, being defeated by Gauranga. These descriptions of Gauranga’s vidya-lila are very wonderful. Whoever listens to these pastimes becomes free from ignorance.” Hearing this, Sri Jiva rolled on the ground in ecstasy at Vedanagara (the place of the Vedas).

Jahnava

http://www.stephen-knapp.com/jahnava_mata.htm
Jahnava Devi is the wife of Nityananda Prabhu, a 15th-century leader of Gaudiya Vaishnavas in Bengal, .She became a leading figure and a diksa guru head of sampradaya.

She was ordered by Gopinatha to get a proper Radharani murti for Him. There was a proper size and everything. And so then she went back to Gaudadesh to get a Radharani Deity for Gopinatha in Vrindavana.

Incarnation of

Mother Jahnava was going to Vrindavan, she went into one town where all the people were Kali worshippers, Chandi. And they saw that devotees were being respected. They became very envious “Why are they bowing down to Jahnava, why they are bowing down to these Vaishnavas, these villagers? They are rascals, why are they not bowing down to Chandi, Mother Maya? They are not making any goat offering or drinking any wine. They are all offensive.” So they went to Chandi and said, “We are going to chop off the heads of these Vaishnavas, they are so offensive to you, they don’t offer you any goat or wine or anything and they are offensive. We are going to finish them off tonight. Chop off their heads. We will wake up in the middle of the night and do this work for your pleasure.”

Of course, Chandi Maya is the greatest devotee. She tolerates these demons. But when they want to offend the Vaishnavas she cannot tolerate. So she appeared in their dreams as soon as they went to sleep. Her eyes were flaming red and her hair was scattered and she was accompanied by her she-demons. She had her huge chopper I n her hand and she told them, “I’m going to chop off your heads! You don’t know who is Jahnava. She is my worshippable Deity. She is the Antaranga-shakti. These are all Vaishnavas. They are pure devotees of Krishna, my eternal master. You are going to chop their heads off? If you do not beg them for forgiveness for your offence, I’m going to chop off your heads.” They woke up shaking, ‘Aaaaaahhh! Aaaaahhhh!” They were very afraid of Chandi. They ran to the Vaishnavas and fell down at their feet, “Please, please, we did not know who you are. Please forgive us. Mother Chandi has told us, now we know who you are. Please, please instruct us what is devotion, who you are, what we are to do? We have committed so many offences.” So of course Jahnava being an ocean of mercy, blessed them with ecstatic love for Nita-Gaura. And they became devotees. They stayed there for a few days. Jahnava and other devotees were going to Vrindavan. They turned the whole village into pure devotees, there were demons there before. They turned them into pure devotees.

Nityananda Nishtha by Lochana dasa Thakura

 https://www.google.com/search?q=Lochana+dasa+Thakura

● Srila Lochana dasa Thakura sings, “je deshe mora nityananda nahi, se deshe an jabo”. What does it actually mean? I will attempt to shed some light on this by his causeless mercy.

● Since Nityananda is the most merciful Lord in the whole creation granting us all our wishes, it is utterly ungrateful, to live our lives without Him. We owe everything to Him, including our very existence. Nityananda should be the focal point and center of every culture and settlement on earth. Then every soul will become truly happy forever by chanting Shuddha Harinam.

● He does not want to go to such a place where Nityananda is not known, even if it may be materially very advanced. This is because if we don’t give Nityananda the due credit for what we are and for all what we can do, all our activities become useless.

● Gaura Radha Krishna do not directly involve Themselves with our day-to-day ups and downs as They are absorbed in Their eternal pastimes. This is stated in Madhurya Kadambini. It is only Nityananda who does that. So neglecting Nityananda is most inauspicious for us individually and also collectively for the whole world.

● Trying to approach Gaura Radha Krishna directly without Nityananda means to blatantly refuse to accept the only via medium of Nityananda, which They have sent to us for reaching Them.

● By intimately associating with people or things who reject or minimize Nityananda deliberately, the same rebellious seed of dissent is subtly planted in our hearts. And then we become doomed for all eternity to never attain Gaura Radha Krishna. The Lord can tolerate doubts about Himself but never about His greatest servitor and devotee Nityananda.

● Nityananda is in everyone’s heart as the Supersoul. He is even inside the empty space in every atom. He is literally everywhere. Those people or places which are ignorant of this simple truth are literally not seeing the actual truth.

● Nityananda is the very life and origin of our lives. Without Him, our lives have no meaning. Even if they may know it or not, everyone’s goal is to eventually be with Nityananda in the spiritual world singing Harinam, which is the real home for our soul. Those who don’t remember Him even once a day are disregarding the very source of their own existence.

● We cannot blame Srila Locana dasa Thakura for saying this. It is but natural to feel disappointed with those who do not want to even acknowledge the infinite gifts which Nityananda is giving each and every soul at every moment.

● Srila Locana dasa Thakur wants us to associate with Nityananda's devotees or to practice our bhajan alone, rather than hear the belittling of our beloved Doyal Nityananda, so that we can always chant the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra offenselessly. That does not mean we have to leave the place where we are staying or not to go to other places. A possible solution is to create the association of Nityananda's devotees in our localities ourselves, if it is non-existent. And then associate with them and blissfully sing Nityananda’s glories together with them to attain Hare Krishna Rasa very quickly.

Murari

At Srivasa’s house, Mahaprabhu taught the spiritual truths about himself, Nityananda Prabhu and matters of etiquette through Murari. One day, Murari Gupta came to Srivasa’s house. Upon arriving, he first paid obeisances to Mahaprabhu and then to Nityananda. Mahaprabhu said, “This is not correct.” Murari could not understand what he meant. That night when he returned home, he had a dream in which he saw Nityananda as Balaram, fanning Mahaprabhu/Krishna with a fly whisk. Murari then understood what Mahaprabhu had been telling him and from then on first paid obeisances to Nityananda and afterwards to Mahaprabhu. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Thakur writes in his Gaudiya-bhashya, “Sri Murari was a worshiper of Balaram. Therefore to worship the Supreme Lord without first worshiping the guru and the jagad-guru is a mistake in sequence.”

The lotus-eyed Mahaprabhu was sitting down with the smiling Nityananda at his right hand side. Murari paid obeisances first to Nityananda and then to the feet of Vishvambhara. (Chaitanya Bhagavat 2.20.22-3)

Ten Million Moons

Ten Million Moons (Nitai Pada Kamala) by Srila Narottama Das Thakur Language: Bengali

Translation

The lotus feet of Lord Nityananda are a shelter that soothes with the light of millions of moons. Their shade brings solace to the universe. O brother, without Sri Nitai, approaching Radha-Krishna is impossible. Catch hold of the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda and join Their dance!

A person who has not established his relationship with Nityananda Prabhu has wasted his life and is no better than an animal. Because he has never uttered the holy name of Nityananda, he has been absorbed with so-called material “happiness.” What can his useless education and family tradition do to help him?

With false prestige and identification with the body, one is thinking, “Oh, what is Nityananda? What can He do for me? I don’t care.” But he is not accepting the truth. To approach Radha-Krishna, first achieve the mercy of Lord Nityananda. Grasp the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda, which are not illusion; they are a fact. Engage His transcendental loving service and become transcendental. Catch the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda! I, Narottama dasa, am miserable and am praying to Lord Nityananda to make me blissful. My dear Lord, please keep me close to Your lotus feet!

Gadadhara Dasa Goswami

https://www.google.com/search?q=Gadadhara+Dasa+Goswami

Nityananda Prabhu carefully picked up from the altar very beautiful Deity of Shri Bala Gopala of
Dasa Gadadhar's temple at Eriyadahagram. While holding Him against His chest, He began to dance in ecstasy. When all of the devotees saw that Gopala had taken shelter of the heart of Shri Anantadeva, they made the heavens resound with the vibrations of "Hari! Hari!" Nityananda Prabhu, who was very robust and heroic, then began to roar very loudly while engaging in His ecstatic dance with Gopalaji. Then Madhavananda Ghosa began to sing some songs describing Krsna's dan-lila (from Dan-keli-Kaumadi). Hearing his sweet voice and the poetic descriptions of Krsna's dan-lila, Nityananda exhibited all of the ecstatic symptoms within

  1. His body simultanously as He danced like one intoxicated. The gestures He exhibited while dancing were like slashes of lightning;
  2. His limbs moved with unparalleled grace.
  3. His expressive eye movements,
  4. His sweet smiling and eruptive laughter, and the shivering and quaking of His head, provided a feast for the devotees' eyes and ears.
  5. His two beautiful lotus feet together, He would then jump in such a way as to completely captivate ones mind. Whomever He would look at would find themselves floating in an ocean of the mellows of love of Krsna, and
  6. His merciful glance they forgot about the existence of their physical body. The level of devotion that is sought by great yogis and munis was attained that day by the ordinary men and women of that place, as they relished the remnants of Lord Nityananda's love for Krsna.
